Jessie is the only person who I have done multiple birthday portrait sessions with. If you read my previous blog post Life you will know why I took a break from it.

I love shooting birthday portraits. I was truly inspired by an amazing artist named Goodloe Byron ( You should check out his work ) If you were friends of Goodloe he would make doodles of you on your birthday. Goodloe made some great doodles of me and my family. He didn’t have to do it, but he did it and it made me and I am sure others feel good to receive that on their birthday. I wanted to create that same feeling for others. I don’t do them all the time. Only when my life allows for it. I would see who’s birthday it was on social media and reach out to them and see if they would be interested in getting a birthday portrait. Most are skeptical at first. I basically say “ Happy Birthday! Are you interested in coming into my studio for 10 minutes or so for a birthday portrait. If so pick a colored backdrop and tell me what time works best for you. The session is free” Some people are super excited and some peoples schedule doesn’t allow for it especially since most might have plans on their birthday. I love being able to catch up with a friend or sometimes make a new one. So if you see a message from me on your birthday hopefully you have the time for a quick chat/snap.
